Meenakshi Nihalani is an active Visual Artist from India. She has received her Bachelor’s Degree in Sculpture from the Sir J.J. School of Fine Arts, Mumbai. She recently exhibited her installations in Berlin, Germany. The research represents the social and psychological impact of British Colonialism on the Farmers and the Land in India and emphasizing the Absurdism of politics and power on mankind. She has received the Scholarship Residency by Fundaziun Nairs in Switzerland (2019). She has also received a Scholarship exhibition by Honorary Indian consulate in Stuttgart in 2018. She has attended her Artist residency in Berlin, Netherlands, Zurich, Belgium, and India. She has also received the 2017 Lord Mayo Memorial Award for her sculpture during the Annual exhibition in Sir J.J School of Art. Her fascination lies in the linearity of three-dimensional forms and large scale works depicting ironical glimpses of situations in our society. Involving Textile and Sculptural forms with Sound effects the medium reflects the absurd Psychology of mankind which lies under the skin of the social image. The artist currently lives and works from Mumbai, India.
